Kyoto in its Season

This series of photographs comes from my Kyoto Japan travels. During my two visits I was inspired by Japanese literature and poetry, specifically the haiku. It was with a haiku sensibility that I made these images and put together my 2007 solo exhibition at Rolly-Michaux Gallery.

Here you will find my first serious attempts at nature abstractions using the confines of the viewfinder and narrow depth of field. Imagery comes from temples, shrines, gardens, the streets of Kyoto and Nijo Castle.

The pictures in this series come in an edition of 15 and are available in three print sizes: 12X18, 20X30 and 30X45 inches. Prints are available to be viewed and purchased at Rolly-Michaux Galleries located at 290 Dartmouth Street. A signed book of these images is available for $50. In 2011 a solo exhibition of the Kyoto series will be displayed at the Art Complex Museum in Duxbury.
